Three die in different road accidents in Udayapur

UDAYAPUR, Jan 10: A total of three persons died in different road accidents in Udayapur district on Wednesday evening.

A Bolero jeep met with an accident at Tapli Rural Municipality-2, leaving two dead, while another accident at Triyuga Municipality-9 killed a person.

The deceased of the Bolero accident have been identified as Milan Rai, 26, a resident of Tapli-2, and Mahendra Rai, 33, a resident of Birtamod, Jhapa. Both died on the spot, according to Superintendent of Police (SP) Bir Bahadur Budha Magar, chief of The District Police Office.

The jeep met with the accident at around 6 in the evening. According to Magar, the jeep (Me 1 Ja 2662) flipped over and plunged 50 meterS down the road while it was reversing on a bend. The accident also left four injured including the driver. The jeep was en route to Jhilke from Katari.

In the accident, Babu Rai, 27, and Ras Maya Rai, 40, of Tapli-3 were seriously injured. Likewise, Motilal Rai, 32, of Tapli-2, and driver Komal Raj Magar, 21, of Tapli-1, have sustained minor injuries, according to police.

Those seriously injured were taken to Katari Hospital, and were referred to Biratnagar for further treatment, according to the Area Police Office, Katari.

Meanwhile, one person was killed and three others were injured in an auto-rickshaw accident in Gaighat, the district headquarters of Udayapur. The auto-rickshaw (Sa 1 Ha 3811) lost its control and flipped over on the road, leaving Sima Danuwar, 20, a resident of Triyuga-7, dead. Danuwar, who was seriously injured in the accident, succumbed to her injuries while undergoing treatment at the District Hospital, Gaighat.

Likewise, injured Mandira Basnet, 20, a resident of Triyuga-7, has been referred to Biratnagar for further treatment by the district hospital. In the accident, Gobinda Karki, 60, and Manju Daniwar, 37, sustained minor injuries. They are receiving treatment at the district hospital.

Police have taken driver Hom Bahadur BK, 28, a resident of Triyuga-4, under control for further investigation into the accident, according to SP Magar.
