The bold and the dramatic

You don’t always have to opt for your regular makeup routine, especially not if the occasion calls for something a little extra. The Week’s Reya Shreya Rai seeks out Onisha Mulmi Shrestha, at Galz Beauty Parlor, to get the glamorous glittery look right for a special evening with friends or a wedding reception. 

Contour and highlight
This basic makeup trick can even out skin tone and uplift your best features making your face seemingly perfect. 

Clean and moisturize your skin, then apply foundation all over your face with the foundation brush or sponge. 

Take a lighter concealer or foundation with your foundation brush and apply it to your T-zone. The T-zone area is right above your eyebrows and the spot between them, if you have one; down the center of your nose; the middle of your upper lip; and the middle of your chin. Apply the lighter color under your eyes too, this will help get rid of eye-bags.

Apply it right above your cheekbones and above your jawline too. 

Take a brush or a sponge to blend the makeup in until there is no visible line between the regular foundation and the lighter color. 

Take the darker color foundation and apply it to the sides of your nose, right under your cheekbones and hairline and blend well.

Eye shadow

For some glamor with a dash of drama, you can’t go wrong with bold eye makeup and eye shadow works to add some serious oomph to the final look. 

Sweep a light colored shadow into the crease of your eye. Pick another color and use a flat brush to spread the color all over your eyelid.

Choose a darker color for the outer corner of your eye.

Blend the color from the corner of your eye into the lid color, softening out the look.

Using a smudge brush, add some of the darker color from the corner to underneath your eye.

Add a light color on top of the brow bone to highlight.

Add your eyeliner and mascara to complement this look.

Choose a glitter and apply it on the middle sections of the crease. 

Lipstick

Lipstick can be tricky as you’ll need to keep reapplying it depending on how long you plan to stay out and what you eat. But it also ties your look together and makes you party ready with minimal effort. 

Moisturize your lips with a lip balm or moisturizer first.

Fill in the lips by tracing the border of your lips with a lip liner. To keep everything simple, use a universal, invisible lip liner or one that matches the color of your lipstick.

If your lipstick is in for a long night, apply a layer of lip liner first since lip liners are more long lasting than lipstick.

Apply the darkest shade of lipstick that you have or are bold enough to try for the most dramatic look.

It’s easier to see flaws with a darker color so use a concealer or a lip liner that match your lipstick to go back in and even out any mistakes.
