Special Rights Committee formed in Bagmati provincial assembly

HETAUDA, April 18: The Bagmati Provincial Assembly meeting has formed a Special Rights Committee.

The Special Rights Committee was formed in accordance with the provisions of the Provincial Assembly Working Procedure Rules, 2074 BS.

Speaker Bhuwan Kumar Pathak has nominated committee members based on the proposal of CPN (Maoist Center) provincial lawmaker Ratna Prasad Dhakal. The proposal was supported by all parties.

Representing seven parties in the provincial assembly, it was decided on Friday to form the Special Rights Committee by consensus to determine the share of the chairmanship of the parliamentary committee.

Only Maya Devi Sharma from CPN (Unified Socialist) Party is preparing to run for the chairmanship of the committee based on the consensus reached among the parties.

The 17-member Special Rights Committee consists of four members from Nepali Congress, three members each from CPN-UML, CPN (Maoist Center) and Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), two members from CPN (Unified Socialist) Party, one member each from Hamro Nepali Party and Nepal Workers Peasants Party.

The committee includes Govinda Lamsal, Prabhat Tamang, Ramakrishna Chitrakar and Suna Pariyar from NC. Similarly, there are Krishna Prasad Silwal, Jay Ram Thapa and Bindu Shrestha from UML, Devendra Shrestha, Ratna Prasad Dhakal and Sushpa Bhujel Neupane from Maoist Center and Gir Bahadur Tamang, Dhaneshwori Prajapati and Raju Bista from RPP.

Other members of the committee include Krishna Prasad Sharma Khanal and Maya Devi Sharma from the CPN (Unified Socialist) Party, Sarita Khadgi from Hamro Nepali Party, and Surendra Raj Gonsai from Nepal Workers Peasants Party.
