Sindhuli car accident: Indian victims identified

SINDHULI, April 12: The identity of all the four people killed in an accident involving a car bearing an Indian number plate in Sindhuli on Tuesday has been established. They are from Bhagawatisthan 9, Mandipursari Mastipur Warisnagar, Bihar, India. One among the five people traveling in the car has sustained injuries. He is 47-year-old Dharmendra Kumar Soni. Soni was rescued from the accident site and brought to Sindhuli Hospital for primary treatment. He has been sent to Dhulikhel for further treatment, said Raj Kumar Silwal, Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office.

Abhisek Thakur, 32, succumbed to his injuries at Sindhuli Hospital. Two people who were injured in the accident that happened at 12.30pm were rescued and brought to Sindhuli Hospital for treatment this morning. He died at the hospital while three people died on the spot in the accident, SP Silwal said. 

The three deceased are 42-year-old Rakesh Kumar Singh, 36-year-old Manu Singh and 32-year-old  Gawar Singh.

The car with registration number plate, BR 06 DD-687, met with an accident at Kamalamai Municipality-3, Gadhigate in Sindhuli along the BP Highway last night while going to Kathmandu. It fell 500 feet off the road. 

Silwal said preparations were being made to retrieve the bodies from the crash site and bring them to Sindhuli Hospital. A team comprising personnel of Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and Nepali Army have to retrieve the bodies from the accident site.

According to SP Silwal, the rescue team had brought the bodies from the crash site to the road with difficulty as the accident occurred on a cliff. He said even some policemen in the rescue team sustained minor injuries due to rolling stones. It is said the car passengers had come to Nepal on a religious tour.
