Lawyer claims girl who accused Sandeep of raping her has two birth certificates

KATHMANDU, Oct 10: Cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane's lawyer has claimed that the girl who accused Lamichhane of raping her is not a minor.

Talking to journalists outside the Kathmandu District Court on Monday, Lamichhane's lawyer, Sudha Rizal, claimed that the ‘so-called victim’ is not a minor.

She said to the journalist, “It seems that she has two birth certificates. It seems that she is trying to trap Sandeep in a deliberate manner. We will submit the proof that she made her birth certificate by changing her birthdate. Sandeep is innocent.”

Another lawyer Saroj Krishna Ghimire said that Lamichhane told Judge Dayaram Dhakal that the victim girl told him that she was 19 years old. But he said that he did not know about the documents of the victim.

He said, “I am still unknown about her age. I didn't have her documents. I could not even consult another lawyer, Sandeep informed the judge that the victim told him she was 19 years old three times.”

The Kathmandu District Court has extended the judicial remand of Cricketer Lamichhane by three more days for investigation.
