Postmortem of 48 dead bodies brought from Pokhara underway

KATHMANDU, Jan 18: On January 15, the bodies of 48 people who died in the accident of Yeti Airlines aircraft in Pokhara have been brought to Kathmandu for postmortem. 

On Tuesday afternoon, the Nepali Army used two helicopters to transport the bodies to Kathmandu. These bodies would be examined at the Maharajganj-based Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, according to Yeti Airlines.

The hospital said that after counseling the families and relatives of the deceased was over on Tuesday, the autopsy was started this morning. As the bodies of some of them could not be identified, it is said that they will be handed over to the families and relatives of the deceased after identification on the basis of DNA.

Yeti Airlines informed Republica that 71 of the 72 bodies of the people who were killed in the plane crash have been found and the remaining one person is still missing and the search operation is continuing.
