NEPALGUNJ, March 19: CPN UML Chairman and former prime minister KP Oli has said that the government should not be afraid of conducting the local polls slated for May 14.

Speaking at a press conference  organized by Banke Publicity Department of CPN(UML) in Banke on Sunday, Oli has said that it would be undemocratic of the government if it decided to halt the local polls due to mounting pressure from any party or so-called  front or group.

He stated that if the government presented itself in a weak manner, the political parties opposed to the local polls would benefit from it.

In a reply to the question  asked by the journalists about the possibility of his party joining the government, Oli said that CPN UML had no goals other than local polls at the moment.

CPN UML will not think about being part of the government prior to the polls, Oli said
