Nine arrested for 'involvement' in murder and abduction

BHAIRAHAWA, Oct 11: In the last seven days, police in Rupandehi have arrested nine persons allegedly involved in serious crimes like murder and abduction.

Rupandehi police has nabbed the accused of a murder which took place 20 years ago. Man Bahadur Tharu of Tilottama- 7, Kanchi Bazaar, who was at large after shooting his neighbor Rudal Yadav in 1997 was arrested by the Area Police Office last Wednesday. Police were successful in catching Tharu as he visited his family to celebrate Dashain.

Similarly, a 17-year-old boy who had disappeared after killing his mother on the main day of Dashain was arrested from the border area. Sanjay Gupta of Lumbini Sanskritik Municipality had hit his mother Kokila Kahar, 36, with a dough rolling board. According to the police, Gupta struck her mother with the board after she refused to give him money for gambling. 

Likewise, a person who allegedly killed Mahesh Yadav, an auto-rickshaw driver of Bhairahawa, was also nabbed by Police last week. Anmol Khatib, 20, of Saptari Bhagatpur-7 killed Yadav after a dispute between them under the influence of alcohol. After strangling Yadav with a nylon rope, Khatib had dumped his body under the Danda Bridge, according to Dilli Narayan Pandey, DSP and spokesperson for the District Police Office, Rupandehi. 

Besides that, six boys involved in the abduction of a young girl two weeks ago were also nabbed by police. Rekha Bhusal, 21, was forcefully put inside a car while she was waiting for a bus. Apparently, these boys had demanded Rs 20 million from her family for her release. After intense search by the police, the perpetrators left her in Kanchi Bazaar of Tilottama on the same day. Police said further investigation into the abduction is underway. 
   
As informed by the police, the accused had rented a room for keeping the girl until they got the ransom. However, their plan failed. Police have confiscated the car (Lu 1 Ja 3436), mobile phones, a cycle, bed sheets and Khukuri from their rented room.
