Nepse loses 30.89 points on Sunday

KATHMANDU, April 3: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) on Sunday dropped 30.89 points to close at 2,513.41 points while the single-day trade volume also fell to as low as Rs 1.46 billion amid low confidence of investors in the secondary market.

Last week, the market declined 69.37 points, making the investors lose Rs 93 billion in their book value during week-long transactions. On Sunday, the market that opened at 2,544.30 points went into a straight fall during the trading hours.

Except for mutual funds, all other 12 trading groups witnessed a fall in their shares’ prices on an average. The sensitive index that measures the performance of blue chip companies also dropped by 6.44 points to close at 469.03 points.

Along with the Nepse index, the transaction volume also came below the average daily transaction of Rs 2.68 billion of the last week. In terms of individual companies, Surya Life Insurance Company Limited posted the largest turnover of Rs 97.25 million. United Idi-Margi and RB Hydropower Limited were the topmost losers while Rashtra Utthan Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha lost the highest percentage point in the intraday trading.
