Nepse inches up 5.71 points, daily turnover falls to Rs 3.044 billion on Thursday

KATHMANDU, Jan 19: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) on Thursday increased marginally by 5.71 points to close at 2,178.81 points.

The secondary market opened at 2,173.10 points and went to as low as 2,163.46 points before going through a series of fluctuations. The market rose to the day’s high at 2,192.45 points before dropping by around 14 points to close for the day.

The daily turnover fell to Rs 3.044 billion from Rs 4.928 billion on Wednesday.

In the intraday trading, a total of 85 companies gained in their market values whereas 108 companies were the losers. The sensitive index that measures the performance of blue chip companies also gained 1.15 points.

Six groups including banking, hydropower, investment, mutual fund, non-life insurance and trading gained in their market prices. Of the seven losers, five shed double digit value in their indices.  

In individual companies, NIC Asia Bank had the largest transaction of its shares worth Rs 180.44 million. Adarsha Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited was the topmost gainer, while Kumari Dhanbriddhi Yojana lost the highest value in its market price.
