KATHMANDU, June 2: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has introduced a smart parking system in four places of Kathmandu.

The KMC introduced the system in Durbar Marg, Pako, Khichapokhari, and Bishalbazaar in the first phase on May 31.

Digital display boards are installed in the aforementioned places to provide information regarding the availability of the parking space for the two-wheelers and four-wheelers.

A rider can get pre-information typing 'PARK-KTH' about the available parking space in advance before reaching the parking areas through the mobile app.

The rider can send a text through the mobile app to reserve the parking area before leaving his/her place. The rider immediately receives a free-call number and he/she can reserve the parking space.

A two-wheeler is charged Rs.25 while a four-wheeler is charged Rs. 80-85 per hour. KMC gets 20% of the total collected amount, according to Ishwor Man Dangol, the spokesperson of the KMC.
