KATHMANDU, Jan 17: The newly-appointed Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Energy and Water Resources Rajendra Lingden has said that he will work to devise a five-year strategic plan.

After assuming office on Tuesday, Minister Lingden said that it was his first decision to work on the five-year strategic plan for the performance enhancement of the ministry based on the needs and priorities of the country. He said that a three-member task force will be formed for that.

He said that the working group to be formed under the leadership of the joint secretary of the ministry will determine the needs and priorities of the ministry and make the five-year strategic plan.

He said that even though the work of the ministry he has taken responsibility for is challenging, he will take it as an opportunity.

Saying that all the ministries are important in their respective places, he said that getting the responsibility of the Ministry of Energy for a country like Nepal is an important opportunity for him.

He said, "In order to advance the work in a planned manner, we have studied all of the past experiences in the field of energy, water resources and irrigation and how we can go forward. We have now decided to form a task force to determine our needs and priorities and create a five-year strategic plan. We have formed a three-member working group.”
