Mayor and Deputy-Mayor tussle on Rani Pokhari reconstruction row

The row between Mayor Bidhya Sundar Shakya and Deputy-Mayor Hari Prabha Khadgi of Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has reached its saturation level. Deputy-Mayor Khadgi padlocked the gate of Rani Pokhari against the use of concrete materials for the construction of the wall. However, within two hours Mayor Shakya unlocked the gate and monitored the reconstruction work. 

Pashpatinath temple periphery becomes vehicle free zone

Pashupatinath temple periphery has been declared 'No Entry' zone for vehicles. The area north of the Char Shivalaya, east of Jaya Bageshwari and south of the Dakshinamurti has been declared no-vehicles zone. The road from Dakshinamurti to Mitra Park has been declared one-way. 

Agreement promoting youth employment signed

The Ministry of Industry and National Youth Council signed an agreement to alleviate poverty by creating employment and establishing employment-generating industries in the country. 

ODF an unsuccessful intervention in Jhapa

The campaign to make Jhapa an Open Defecation Free (ODF) zone by 2017 is likely to fail due to lack of initiatives and surveillance from the bodies concerned. Only 8 local levels out of 15 in the district are declared fully ODF zones during the four-year term of the programme intervention. 

Management of relief materials after 32 months of quake

Thirty two months after the deadly Gorkha earthquake, the District Disaster Rescue Committee, Nuwakot has started to manage relief materials it received to distribute to the earthquake affected communities. Dispute between political parties had barred earthquake victims to receive timely assistance. The stored relief materials were received in April and May, 2015. 

Lalitpur Patriots, Bhairahawa Gladiators win

Lalitpur Patriots defeated Pokhara Rhinos in a must win game by six wickets. Pokhara Rhinos had given a target of 132 at the loss of five wickets in their allocated 20 over game.  

Bhairahawa Gladiators defeated Chitwan Tigers in a low scoring run chase. Gladiators, who chased a target of 88 runs, won the game by four wickets.
