Dahal-Nepal faction to oust Oli from the post of parliamentary party leader

A meeting of the Nepal Communist Party (NCP)’s Central Committee members close to Executive Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal that took place on Tuesday in the capital.

KATHMANDU, Dec 23: A parliamentary party meeting of the Dahal-Nepal faction of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) is taking place this afternoon.

The meeting will expel KP Sharma Oli from the post of leader of the NCP's parliamentary party, according to a source close to Pushpa Kamal Dahal, the executive chairperson.

NCP lawmakers close to Dahal are gathering at 12:45 pm at the NCP's parliamentary party office in New Baneshwar for the parliamentary party meeting.

Earlier on Tuesday, a central committee meeting of the Dahal-Nepal faction of the party had expelled Oli as the party's chairperson while picking senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal as its other chairperson.

Meanwhile, the Dahal-Nepal faction of the NCP is preparing to go to the Election Commission to claim that they hold a majority in the party and therefore they should be given official recognition.
