DODHARA CHANDANI, June 13: As announced  by the government, work has been progressed to make strategic plans in order to bring Dadeldhura Medical College into operation.

For the construction, a total of 84 ropanis of land located at Tuphandanda of Dadeldhura has already been received in the name of Sudurpaschim University for the operation of the medical college.  Similarly, there are 234 ropanis of land in the name of Dadeldhura Regional Hospital.

Sudurpaschim University has forwarded the process for the construction of a medical college by establishing the office of Dean in Dadeldhura.

According to the vice-chancellor of Sudurpaschim University, Ammaraj Joshi, activities related to a detailed project report for the construction of different infrastructures including administrative building and hostel are underway.

He said, "We have been carrying out activities to enroll the students from this academic session and the university has taken the curriculum preparation task to the final phase."

"Dadeldhura hospital now has the capacity of 100 beds and it would be expanded to 300 beds,” Vice-Chancellor Joshi said.

Although the government had decided to operate Dadelhdhura hospital as the constituent campus of Sudurpaschim University, it was not operated due to the lack of budget.

According to Joshi, students of Sudurpaschim Province will have access to medical education and people across the province will get specialist treatment services once a medical college comes into operation in Dadeldhura.

An agreement has already been reached among the Ministry of Health and Population, Ministry of Education, Science and technology and Sudurpaschim University for the same.

Dean of the medical college, Dr Hemnath Joshi, said only Bachelor's level classes could be run for the time being as Dadeldhura regional hospital has only 100 beds.

"We have already sent a letter to the Medical Education Commission for running Bachelor's level classes," he said, “Further preparation is underway to enroll students from February 2024.
