COVID-19: 80 percent infected of Karnali recover

SURKHET, July 4: The number of people recovering from coronavirus in Karnali Province has surpassed the number of infected in Karnali Province. On Friday alone, 51 infected including two women returned home after recovery.

Of them, 31 were undergoing treatment at the Dullu hospital in Dailekh, 12 in the Karnali Province Hospital, six in the Salkot Isolation Center and two others in the Tanthikandh Isolation Centre in Dailekh, according to chief of the Provincial Health Services Division Dr Laxmi Narayan Tiwari. The total number of people, who have recovered from the deadly virus as of Saturday, has reached 1,178.

Currently, the number of active COVID-19 cases in Karnali Province is 305. With eight new cases reported in Narayan Municipality and one other in Dungeswar Municipality on Friday, the total number of people infected by the COVID-19 has reached 1,483 in Karnali Province. Of them, 105 are said to be infected locally, while the remaining others were people, who returned recently from neighbouring India.

Health workers and security personnel and people's representatives working in the quarantine and isolation centres are among those infected locally by the COVID-19. They include 23 are health workers, 53 security personnel, three people's representatives and 15 local people, according to Health Education Officer of the Division, Nawaraj Kandel. Most of those infected locally, however, have already recovered.

The death toll from CoVID-19 infection in Karnali has reached six as of Saturday.
