KATHMANDU, Chief Minister of Karnali Province Mahendra Bahadur Shahi has urged the Chinese investors to invest in his province.

“Provincial government has offered a tax exemption for the next ten years to attract investments,” said CM Shahi on Saturday addressing Nepal-China Economic and Trade Corporation Forum 2019 being held in Kathmandu. He said that the provincial government is sincerely working to create a conducive environment for the foreign investors to do business in Karnali Province.

CM Shahi said that Karnali has a huge potential for investment in multiple sectors. "Infrastructure development, social transformation, industrialization, tourism and environment conservation, and good governance are the areas of priority of the provincial government," Shahi added.

Shahi said that foreign investors could make investment in the field of hydroelectricity, herb cultivation including Yarshagumba, tourism industry, and mineral extraction.

“As we complete the construction of Karnali Corridor, we can offer a new route to Mansarovar for foreign tourists. It will help to promote religious tourism. Not only this, five-star hotels in Surkhet, the capital of the province and well-equipped hotels in Rara and Phoksundo are looking for new areas of investment," he said.

As envisioned in the action plan of the Karnali government titled “Prosperous Karnali: Happy Karnali People”, the chief minister informed that they are organizing an investment summit by the end of this year to invite investments especially on Karnali and Bheri Corridors, international airport in Surkhet, herb-processing industry, Marble and cement factory, etc.
