CoAS Sharma embarks on official visit to China

KATHMANDU, Oct 27: Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) Prabhuram Sharma embarked on an official visit to the People's Republic of China on Friday.

During his stay in China, CoAS Sharma is scheduled to participate in the prestigious opening ceremony of the Beijing Xiangshan Forum, to be held in the Chinese capital. He will also engage in a courtesy meeting with General Liu Zhenli, Joint Chief of Staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army CMC.

In addition to official engagements, the Army Chief Sharma will explore significant cultural landmarks in Beijing, including the iconic Great Wall. He will also attend a dinner hosted by the Ambassador of Nepal to China.

The Commander-in-Chief's itinerary extends to visiting various units and educational institutions of the Chinese People's Liberation Army located in Xi'an City, Shanghai, and Guangzhou. He is scheduled to return home on 2nd November.

Prior to his departure, CoAS Sharma was bid farewell at the Tribhuvan International Airport by Kiran Raj Sharma, Secretary, Ministry of Defense, and Lieutenant General Sitaram Khadka. A troop of the Nepali Army paid their respects to the departing Commander-in-Chief. 

Accompanying the Commander-in-Chief is Mid Western Divisional Commander Brigadier General Prem Dhwoj Adhikari, who will serve as Military Assistant to the Commander-in-Chief and Staff Officer during the visit.

In Commander-in-Chief Sharma's absence, Lieutenant General Sitaram Khadka will assume the role of acting Commander-in-Chief.
