Coalition has not been sincere: Chairman Nepal

KATHMANDU, June 15: The CPN (Unified Socialist) has concluded that the ruling coalition parties have not been sincere and do not want to form an alliance with the party, after reviewing the local level elections. 

At the meeting of the Standing Committee of the CPN (Unified Socialist) on Tuesday, Chairman Madhav Nepal submitted a review report pointing out that there were problems within the party and the alliance.

The report claims that the total number of votes received by the candidates of CPN (Unified Socialist) was 923,219 of which 500,000 were their own. "Half of these votes are from other parties in the coalition and half are from us, but we have received about half a million votes," the report said. He said that there were three problems in the election, the first was the problems within the coalition, the second was the problems within his own party and the third was the technical and administrative problems.

"Not wanting to form an alliance nor implementing the decisions of the coalition, knee-deep in forming a sub-alliance within the alliance, not casting votes honestly in places where there is an alliance, coordinating in the election with the parties outside the alliance, the weak spirit of cooperation among the parties and the mentality to use the alliance for own benefits are the problems of the coalition,” the report states.

Chairman Nepal has said that problems have arisen due to such tendency in both the CPN (Maoist Center) and the Nepali Congress (NC). Separate review reports from all the seven provinces were submitted in the meeting. The meeting is also scheduled to be held today. According to party’s General Secretary Veduram Bhusal, the report submitted by Jhala Nath Khanal will be discussed on Wednesday.
