KATHMANDU, Feb 6: A committee formed by the government to probe into the performance of the Electricity Regulation Commission has given a deadline of seven days to Commission’s Chairperson Dilli Bahadur Singh to submit a written clarification.

A public notice issued on Saturday said action would be taken as per the legal guidelines if the clarification was not submitted in the given deadline. The government has formed the committee citing poor performance of the office-bearers at the Commission. The committee issued a public notice as the Commission’s Chairperson Singh refused to submit clarification despite the committee’s repeated request by meeting Singh in person.

The committee has asked Singh to submit his clarification via email as per clause 105 (21) of the Civil Code (Work Procedure). The committee on Friday sent an email to Singh seeking clarification and made public the issue on Saturday.

The committee has directed Singh to submit his clarification in the given deadline or face legal action for failing to do so. The Council of Ministers had formed the three-member probe panel led by former chief judge Prakash Chandra Gajurel of Appellate Court. After formation of the probe panel, the chairperson and other members of the Commission are automatically suspended from their position.
