Candidacy registration for National Assembly polls in Karnali

SURKHET, Jan 4: Six candidates have registered themselves for the three vacant seats in the National Assembly from Karnali Province.

The ruling coalition Nepali Congress (NC), the CPN (Maoist Center) and the CPN (Unified Socialist) have registered one candidate each for the January 26 election, while the main opposition party, the CPN-UML, has fielded three candidates.

According to the Election Commission, the ruling coalition NC has fielded Durga Kumari Gurung (Surkhet) from the women quota, the CPN (Maoist) has fielded Nar Bahadur Bista (Surkhet) from the disability quota and the CPN-US has fielded Uday Bohora (Salyan) in the open category.

Similarly, the CPN-UML has fielded Ganga Thapa Mahat (Jumla) under the women quota, Padma Bahadur Majhi (Dailekh) under disability and Chudamani Sharma (Surkhet) under the open category quota.

The terms of Kavita Bogati (Humla) from women, Jeevan Budha (Kalikot) from disability and Thagendra Prakash Puri (Rukum West) from ‘others’ categories are coming to an end after four years.
