Cabinet appoints Thakur Gyawali as Inspector General of Nepal Police

KATHMANDU, Feb 11: Thakur Prasad Gyawali has been appointed as the Inspector General of Nepal Police on Tuesday.

A meeting of the Council of Ministers took a decision to this effect today afternoon upon the recommendation of the Ministry of Home Affairs, sources privy to the development told Republica Online. 

Prior to this appointment, Gyawali was serving as the police chief of Province 1.

Gyawali, 54, was born to a middle class family in Pyuthan district. He joined police service in 1990.

Gyawali succeded Sarbendra Khanal who got retired from the police service on Tuesday itself.

The new head of the Nepal Police is scheduled to assume his office tomorrow. 

Gaywali will serve as the chief of Nepal Police for only five months.
