Bagmati Province govt decides to provide Rs 200,000 for deceased and 100,000 for temporary housing

HETAUDA, Oct 1: An all-party meeting in Bagmati Province has decided to immediately provide Rs 200,000 to the families of those who died due to floods, landslides, and inundation.

"Under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Bahadur Singh Lama, an all-party meeting of political parties represented in the Bagmati Provincial Assembly held on Monday evening at the Provincial Center for Good Governance in Jawalakhel, Lalitpur, decided to provide relief and compensation of Rs 200,000 for each deceased individual of families residing in the province affected by disasters.

Govinda Prasad Lamsal, the whip of the Nepali Congress Bagmati Province, said that a decision has been made to provide Rs 100,000 for the construction of temporary structures for families affected by floods and landslides who have become homeless.

Whip Lamsal reported that the all-party meeting decided to prioritize immediate rescue, relief, and reconstruction efforts. The meeting also agreed to arrange free medical treatment for the injured and to manage budgets through provincial offices in the districts for the repair of infrastructure such as roads, bridges, electricity, and drinking water that were damaged by the disaster.

The all-party meeting was attended by former chief minister Shaligram Jamkattel of Bagmati; Uddhav Thapa, the leader of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party parliamentary party; Surendra Raj Gosai, the leader of the Nepali Congress; Shailendra Man Bajracharya from Hamro Nepali Party; Nepali Congress Whip Lamsal; Madhu Sudan Paudel,chief whip of the CPN-UML; Ratna Prasad Dhakal, chief whip of the Maoist Center; and Basanta Manandhar from the CPN (Unified Socialist), among others.
