Army climbs to top position

KATHMANDU, Jan 22: Departmental team Tribhuvan Army Club defeated host team Dhorpatan to climb to the top of the 14th Dhorpatan Women’s Double League Volleyball Competition held in Kathmandu on Monday.

In a match played at Dhorpatan Sports Club court at Gongabu, Army won the match in straight sets of 25-3, 25-7, 25-4 on Monday to maintain the unbeaten streak in the competition with nine points after three matches.

Similarly, the other departmental team and defending champion, Armed Police Force Club defeated Shree Gaun Sports Development Committee in straight sets of 25-20, 25-22, 25-8 in its first match of the tournament. Shree Gaun had won against Samakhushi English Boarding School (SEBS) in straight sets of 25-9, 25-18, 25-11 earlier in the day before losing to Armed Police.

Shree Gaun has nine points at the completion of four games.Similarly, Nepal Police Club registered the third departmental team win of the day with a win over SEBS in straight sets of 25-13, 25-13, 25-9. Police club made a triumphant start to the tournament whereas SEBS is reduced to six points after completion of four matches.
