Airlines to sell flight tickets at reduced prices until road services fully resume

KATHMANDU, Oct 1: Domestic airlines have agreed not to charge the maximum airfare set by the government until the road network becomes fully operational under the special initiative and direction of the Minister for Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, Badri Pandey.

According to Minister Pandey's directive, the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has decided to strictly implement the press release issued on September 29 and, accordingly, the domestic airlines will not sell tickets at high fare rates until the road network is operational.

Previously, the airlines had agreed to sell tickets at reduced fares for only three days, but now they have decided to continue selling tickets at lower fares until road transport is fully operational.

A press release has been issued stating that the airlines have been instructed not to sell tickets at the maximum fares set by the government until the road network is operational following the recent floods and landslides.

Earlier, on September 29, the airlines had agreed to reduce airfares following the direction of Minister Pandey. Continuous rainfall, along with floods and landslides, has obstructed most road networks and highways across the country.
