SINDHULI, June 15: Agricultural Knowledge Center has decided to invest in road construction, in a move unexpected for the center.

Knowledgeable sources said hurry in spending the budget for this current fiscal year led the center to invest in physical infrastructure.

The center has decided to pour money for 12 road construction projects, giving them the name 'agriculture roads'.

The money to be spent on these roads will be cut from the budget allocated to the center by Province 3 government.

"The provincial government has allocated Rs 30.89 million for the projects handled by the knowledge center. Earlier, it used to invest in small and medium scale irrigation projects, but this is the first big venture of the center," said Rajan Dhakal, chief of the center.

The center has started construction of roads from Ratanchura Chisapani to Bhaktiram at the expense of Rs 3.6 million, from Bitijor River to Dhaapchauki at Rs 3.1 million, from Tintalle Maisir to Gothe River at Rs 2.6 million, from Dudhauli Municipality to Khabi Chowk Dhele Manua at Rs 3.1 million and other roads within the same budget range. Agricultural Promotion Officer Bijay Mandal said: "These agricultural roads will connect to the main road and the road will directly benefit local agricultural production."

"We hope that these roads will benefit the farmers and the whole agricultural sector," he added.
