KATHMANDU, Sept 29: A total of 161 people affected by landslides, floods, and inundations have been safely rescued by helicopters as of Sunday morning.

Home ministry Spokesperson and Joint Secretary Rhishi Ram Tiwari reported that 83 individuals have been rescued from various areas in Kavrepalanchowk and have been taken to safety.

Currently, three helicopters of the Nepali Army are deployed for rescue operations. Although helicopters were sent on Saturday, adverse weather conditions hindered the efforts.

According to the ministry, 13 people were rescued in the Kathmandu Valley, 33 in Sindhuli, and 32 in Makwanpur. All available resources are being mobilized to restore roadways blocked by landslides and floods caused by the continuous rains until Saturday evening.

So far, these disasters have resulted in 107 fatalities, 63 people missing, and 73 injuries.

Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has instructed security forces and authorities concerned to ensure the prompt rescue of vulnerable groups, provide relief and medical treatment for those affected, and take immediate measures to restore disrupted roads.
