10th National Games should be held as scheduled: Former PM Dahal

SURKHET, Aug 31: Former Prime Minister and Chairman of CPN (Maoist Center) Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said that the 10th National Games should be held as scheduled.

After inspecting the Karnali Province Stadium in Surkhet on Saturday, he said, “The 10th National Games must be held in Surkhet as scheduled. If there is any attempt to postpone it under any pretext, it will be detrimental to thousands of athletes and sports enthusiasts.”

He expressed confidence that the stadium, which is in the final stage of construction, will become the center of the sports sector in western Nepal and significantly contribute to the professional development of players.

Stating that the stadium was built according to international standards, Chairman Dahal said that it should be utilized to the maximum. He mentioned that various national competitions could be organized in the stadium.

During the inspection, Dahal was accompanied by former Karnali Chief Minister Mahendra Bahadur Shahi, former Sports Minister Bimala KC, Member-Secretary of the Karnali Sports Council Bishwamitra Sanjyal, and other officials.

On a different note, Dahal also congratulated historic bronze medalist Palesha Goverdhan and other sports officials for their accomplishments in the Paris Paralympics 2024. After inspecting the stadium, he remarked that this historic victory is a matter of pride for Nepal.
